In the early 1800’s plaster of Paris was poured into molds to make imitations of fine porcelain figurines often called Chalkware.
The American Carnival Began to appear about 1893. Games of Chance became very popular and these chalkware figures began to emerge as prizes in the early 1900’s and lasted until the 1950’s.
Come check out our collection of Carnival Chalkware from the 1930’s – 1950’s.
Available in our showcase room at the New Hope Antiques Center.

1950 Portuguese Vase Handmade – Thrown on a wheel-Painted by Hand in the Renaissance Revival Style.
Royal Geographical Society World Globe Mantle Clock, Swiss, 15 Jewels, Rare 1979
Unlike any other timepiece available today, this clock was designed to be a work of beauty, as well as function featuring the rich tones of mahogany, brass and gold with a satin-finish globe.
The precision-made 7-jewel movement is housed within an elegant circular base, handcrafted of the finest brass. Revolving time band, the 24 hours are clearly shown – in handsome Roman numerals – above a scale marked in five-minute units. And engraved upon the brass plate above the time band are lines that continue the markings of that scale – in order to ensure accurate sighting from the globe to the time band.
The names of major countries are shown, and each time zone has a figure indicating the number of hours’ difference between its time and the Greenwich Mean Time. Thus, in addition to giving the local time, the clock instantly indicates the time in any other part of the world.
This clock is such a unique piece of art and is a marvel of design and craftsmanship. This clock was offered only by Private commission, and is extremely rare.
Only available at the New Hope Antiques Center.
